What motivated you to start writing?
I read a book by Stephen King called On Writing. It broke down the art of writing in a very simple, non-threatening way. I got about halfway through it and started thinking… 'hey, I could do this!'
Do you see yourself in any of your characters?
I associate best with Julia Campbell (from my Innocence Trilogy) because the first book in that trilogy, Blindfolded Innocence, was the love story of how my husband and I met. The other character who I really connect with is Deanna Madden, partly because I'm on my third book in her head, and partly because she's crazy and I've got a little of that as well.
What did you do in your former life before becoming an author?
umm… everything. I started out working in hospitality - behind the front desk of different hotels. Then I moved to personal banking for a few years. Then I became an admin assistant to a development family, that job entailed everything from running a trucking company (true story) to purchasing and releasing peacocks.

Do you have any strange writing habits (like standing on your head or writing in the shower)?
My writing fuel is Monster Absolutely Zero energy drinks and Nutty Bars. I write EVERYWHERE and our house is absolute chaos. So I've gotten pretty good at writing in the car, in front of the TV, and while in line at the supermarket. If I get stuck, I take the dogs on a long walk, take a nap, or kidnap the husband and go to a movie.

Which other writers inspire you?
CD Reiss because she is a very smart business woman as well as ridiculously talented writer. Abbi Glines because she writes 20,000 WORDS A DAY, which is freakish, and that pushes me to have higher production. Pam Godwin, because she puts out really talented unique story lines. Tiffany Reissz cause her words are freakin' poetry and she makes me want to write on a higher level.

And our bonus questions,
AND JUST BECAUSE WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH
Do you read much and if so who are your favorite authors?
I'll read anything that Lisa Gardner or Gillian Flynn writes. I used to read a book a day, then I started writing and that replaced that time. Now I'm lucky if I read three books a month. I need to read more.
